Many women navigating PCOS feel isolated and lack tools to manage symptoms effectively

Heather is a mobile wellness companion for women navigating PCOS, combining emotional care with practical tools. It’s designed to feel like a trusted friend — empathetic, simple, and empowering.

UI Objectives
  • Translate emotional UX strategy into a tangible mobile-first interface.

  • Maintain consistency in visual language across onboarding, journaling, and educational flows.

  • Deliver clarity in navigation, warmth in tone, and ease in interaction.

  • Build a modular and scalable design system aligned with user needs.

Wireframing & Structure

A mobile-first wireframe system was created to define the foundational architecture.
Key priorities included:

  • Seamless onboarding for personalization

  • Clear paths for mood tracking and journaling

  • Quick access to community and resources

The layout focused on reducing friction and creating a predictable, easy-to-follow flow. The structure ensured that users could easily navigate between emotional support features and practical tracking without feeling overwhelmed.

Visual Language & Design System

A soft, supportive design system was developed for Heather’s UI:

  • Colors: Pastels and calming tones to reduce cognitive overload

  • Typography: Rounded, accessible sans-serif font (Poppins) for readability

  • Icons: Rounded edges to maintain softness and approachability

  • Spacing: Adequate white space to create breathing room for the mind

Learnings

This UI phase emphasised the importance of maintaining a consistent emotional tone in every visual and functional decision.
Key takeaways:

  • A clear visual hierarchy supports accessibility and emotional ease

  • Color and microcopy significantly impact how users perceive empathy

  • Seamless UI transitions make journaling feel more natural and less like a task

Key UI Screens & Features

Onboarding:

Welcomes users with warmth, allowing them to personalize the experience based on symptoms and needs.

Home:

A dashboard with quick access to:

  • Mood tracking

  • Daily actions (hydrate, journal, rest)

  • Affirmations and care tips

Community:

A moderated space for shared stories, encouraging emotional connection and peer support.

Insights:

Educational articles tailored to user needs. Content is easy to digest and is written in a friendly, relatable tone.

Shop:

Curated wellness products for managing PCOS, with content support for usage and lifestyle context.

Conclusion

The Heather iOS interface is a continuation of a UX vision that prioritizes emotional safety, clarity, and connection. The UI system serves as a foundation that can scale as Heather evolves into a broader wellness ecosystem for women.
